Christmas Word Problems

Task Description:

For Wednesday and today, we had to do our own Christmas word problems and swap with a friend, I decided to swap with Lynette and I tried to think of five questions that were related to Christmas and that involved some type of maths. In the end I managed to finish making my five questions and did Lynette’s questions for me, they were quite tricky but I managed to complete them in the end. I had fun swapping and making these questions especially since it was about Christmas. One of these tasks were by me and the other one was by Lynette.

The Enchanted forest

Enchanted Forest

Task Description:

For this task, we had to write a story about us being in an enchanted forest, we had to write about our adventures in the enchanted forest, we had to create a problem then solve it but we also had to include a lot of dialogue, I decided that I wanted to make mine long though I didn’t have too. I actually quite enjoyed doing this task because it got me to imagine or to think about what I did or what I could do in my story.

Respond to Text – The 20 minute City

Task Description:

For this reading task, we had to read a story and a few articles about a 15 – 20 minute city, and answer these few questions, for our create task we had to do a video and a presentation about the 15 – 20 minute city. My highlight for this task was doing this with my partner Swaimah and going through all these together and that we only did one take for the video to be completed. My low light for this task was having to go back and fourth from articles and stories to find out what to write on our presentation for the 20 minute city. I took a lot on board from both the reading and writing tasks that we had this week. I hope we get to do more like this in the future to come. I hope you enjoy going through these few slides and watching our presentation.

Fruit Orchard

Task Description:

For this weeks maths task, I had to do this task, and for this task our WALT for this maths slides, were to “solve multiplication problems by using skip counting or additive strategies interpret and solve multiplication story problems.” For these slides I found getting the answer quite easy as I was to just multiply the numbers in the story about the strawberry patch. Some of them were sort of like trick questions where some of them had the same amount of it. My highlight for this task was getting to get my brain started for the day and I had no low light for this task, what I did take on from this task was working independently on my own on this task can make more efficient affects to my learning.

What am I?

Task Description:

For this weeks maths task, I had to find out what the number was as the task was called “What am I?” Our WALT (We Are Learning To) was “Appreciate that tens are nested in hundred and thousands and use that knowledge to rename whole numbers, rename whole number to make the addition and subtraction of collections of tens or hundreds easier.” I found this task both fun and sort of complex to figure out, My highlight for this task was to figure out the number with the hints, a low light I had for this task was having to really think or estimate a guess to have an answer and something I learn about this was placing numbers in their value/house correctly.

DLO – Animation

Task Description:

For this term, we had to complete this DLO, (Digital Learning Online) and for this we had to draw on slides and try and animate a day of a child who has a balanced and healthy lifestyle. And some possible factors that could be included was, eating well, sleeping well, exercising, meditating, positive attitude and self talk. The animation had to include a voice over to add greater detail and information for the audience, the animation should have also included music to engage the audience.

Task Description:

Today for literacy, we had to finish off our reading tasks for this week. And for this first slide we had to kind of think about what the woman in the photo’s personality was, By the expression on her face I found it kind of hard to find her emotions. But I think I found some type of information about her personality, On the second slide for the second question I had to answer “What is Roger’s internal conflict?” This question was asked based of the scene of what was going on in the story, I thought it was because he didn’t know whether to run out the door or to listen to what Mrs. Jones said to do. For the rest of the slides I had to answer about the boys personality and his background, what I thought the main message of the story was and a video of me and my partner discussing why I thought that was the main message of the author and you should click on the video to find out more. (On the last slide)

Thank you ma’am – Word Associations Activity

Task Description:

For this task, I had to match words from this Word Bank and put reasons as to why I think that word had belong to the other word. I did the easier ones first because I thought if I started with the easier ones that the harder ones won’t be hard to find. For example, Barren and Frail both sounded that they belong to both Dessert and Elderly.

Algebra Operations

Task Description:

For today’s Maths task, we had to do this new task which was all about what operations we use for the equations given to us. For the first slide I think I had overthought it but I managed to kind of work my way through this by adding the cubed colored bags together and then I got my answer in this way, for the second slide it was the same but there two different questions and they were “Do any of the collections have the same total?” And my answer for that was yes, because if you go back to the first slide you will see that most of the collections held most of the same answers. And the second question asked “Why does this happen?” I didn’t really know what to say but I just said that I think the difference was in the numbers depending on how high or small it was to get to the same answer from different equations but still adding with different numbers. And for both the fourth and fifth slide it was to understand the orders of the operation, what I found hard about these two was that it did take a while to try and solve but I know that I have to start with the multiplication in these equations so I think from there it sort of helped me out. Overall I did do my best and I think that I could improve in this a lot if I do more.
